Link Building – Quality is More Important than Quantity

Link Building

Link building is one of the most important strategies in the whole SEO process. However, it’s a time-consuming process that requires work and patience before the results can be seen… but those results can be quite amazing and very effective!

The challenge to overcome in the link building process is to build high-quality incoming links – it is not enough to merely acquire links of just any quality.

Sometimes it can be difficult to acquire a good link from a website that would meet your requirements. But some tasks just require doing good research, and this is no different.

In this article, I will give you a few tips on building high-quality incoming links. You may consider taking them into account while performing link building strategy on your website.

OK, let’s start!

Quality is Everything

You should try to acquire links from websites with a high PageRank; for example, PR=5 or more (the scale of the PageRank is 0 – 10). Getting links from low PR websites (with a PR=0 or PR=1) will not improve your rankings and could prove to be a big waste of time.

It is also good to acquire links from websites that have similar topics as your site. Links from on-topic websites make the linking process look natural and makes Google think that your website is valuable – which is very advantageous for your rankings.

But the ideal scenario is when a website linking to you has a high PR, the same topic as yours, and does not have too many outgoing links. The fewer, the better. It is because if the website that links to you has too many outgoing links, then the quality of your link decreases.

Lastly, try to control anchor text in the incoming links. It would be good if your keywords were placed as an anchor text.

But wait… that’s not all!

There are a few more things to remember…

Acquiring Links to Your Subpages

In other words it’s acquiring deep links. Your subpages should have more incoming links than your homepage because this indicates that your website has important content worth linking to. But if you cannot get more links to your subpages than to your homepage, try to acquire at least 20% of deep links.

When you acquire a link, check if it contains a nofollow attribute. If it does, then the link will not improve your search engine rankings.

Analyze Your Competition

Don’t forget to analyze your competition! Check out where they got their links from and try to acquire links from these sites as well.

Avoid Reciprocal Links

You should avoid reciprocal links. Of course, you can exchange links with some good and reliable websites but exercise caution. You have to know that incoming links will not ‘hurt’ your website’s rankings, but outgoing links can.

Link building can be a time-consuming process but it can bring satisfying results!

There are also other aspects concerning link building but the ones I described above are, in my opinion, the most important.
